Legal Question in Military Law in New York
Gun laws
My daughter in law was arressted for possessing a handgun -someone reported her to the mps on base there was no incedent to cause this other than someone calling.
What is she looking at?
She has two small boys and my son is in iraq?
Please help me to understand what might be the outcome

I assume she is not in the military, only her husband and that she then is a civilian living on the base. I also assume the base does not allow handguns to be carried. Most likely, she will have to go in front of a base magistrate and plead not to be let go from base housing. If she were to be let go and lose the base house, the family would then rate BAH, which is money provided to find appropriate off-base housing. They could also try and ban her from the base, although this would seem to be a harsh remedy in light of the present situation.
