Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York

our 19 yr old son was involved in a car accident with a 53 yr old drunk driver from pa we are in ny our car was totaled everyone is fine but my son found out that he was driving with a suspended liscence due to not appearing for speeding ticket does he need a lawyer present when going to court? also we cant seem to retrieve the druks insurance code it was left off of report our insurance called state police town police dmv nobody seems to want to help any suggestions,is our son expected to pay night of court or do they give him time or do they make us pay?

For a Driving with a Suspended License and outstanding speeding ticket and possibly a bench warrant for his arrest, I would highly recommend that you hire an attorney. If your son was injured in the accident, I would also recommend you hire a lawyer for that as well -- or if you are having difficulty obtaining the insurance information (it's possible that the other driver had NO insurance).
