What distance you traveled to "pull away from oncoming traffic" is likely the key here. Was it feet, yards, blocks or miles? Did you speak with police directly after the accident and report your involvement? Also critical. Did you report your involvement in the accident to your car insurance carrier or broker? If your answers suggest possible criminal activity, irresponsibility or recklessness, consult a criminal defense lawyer now. Best, M. E. Zuller
