Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York
Car Accident:
Road: Two-Lane and Two-Way
Problem: i. Car in opposite direction makes illegal u turn - does not stop
ii. Icy Road: Person in front of me stops suddenly. Could not stop car in time
Thus far: The person in front of me wanted $500 to repair his car but now he wants ~$900 instead. AND I have to repair my aunt's car for $1500.
Question: Who is at fault? What should I do?

If you struck the car in front of you, you are most likely to be held at fault for not keeping your distance. You should pay for the damages in accordance with the estimate provided by the party who was damaged, best thing to do is to submit the claim to your insurance carrier.
