Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York

A car ran through a stop sign and hit me. The passenger in my car sued both of the other party and me. From the damage of my car, it wasn't major, it got dent on the door and a flat tire, I was able to fix the tire and drove it home on the day of accident. The other party's insurace paid me about 5k to get the car fixed. when the accident happened, the passenger was seated on the other side of the hitting.

My insurance covered 100k/300k BI, the other party covered 250k (not sure about BI). I heard the passenger got a couple of surgeries. My question is how a case like this would end up? What if the insurance coverage is inadequate? And how does that affect me financially? (mine is car service)

My car insurance company got me a lawyer, I've been communicating with this lawyer on the phone. Do I pay for the lawyer or my insurance company does?

You should address your questions to your insurance company's lawyer. Your insurance company will pay for the lawyer.
