Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York
confused by my lawyer!
i won a wrongful death suit on behalf of my father and my lawyer put my money in a structured settlement i gotten papers but not what called a certificate of settlement or benefits letter naming my beneficiary account number and all that good stuff i contacted the insurance company which is metlife and they told me i had to contact my lawyer that he has it ive contacted him several times he seemd as if he didnt know what i was talking about but he said he'll notify the insurance company but they had already told me they sent it to him im kind of weary about this lets say i was to die tomorrow how would my children know whats coming to the im very confused also there are thing about my paper work that r kind of suspect also like all paper work has info on it but the pages were my signature go r like seperate from other documents how can i know if im being taken advantage of my lawyer is in ny but i reside in ct its hard for me to relly talk to him face to face!

You should have received from your attorney a complete copy of the structured settlement agreement. It would include all the details you seem to be seeking. If you don't have it, ask for it. You might also ask for a copy of the Surrogate Court decree authorizing the settlement. Good luck. Best, M. E. Zuller

Write a letter to your lawyer with a copy to the insurance company. I would also contact the company for the structured settlement, they should also have the information.
