If an Directv installer has an accident while installing a dish on a roof, is Directv liable or is the building owner liable for damages?

I look forward to speaking with you and fighting hard for your rights.
Could be both. DIrect TV will handle the workers compensation aspect. If there was something wrong with the roof that caused the accident AND the home owner knew or should have known about it, there might well be a third-party lawsuit to deal with. Best, M. E. Zuller
It sounds like the structure upon which you were installing the dish was not a one or two family dwelling. If this is so, you should immediately contact an attorney with significant expertise in the area of New York's Labor Law Section 240(1) litigation. Such an attorney can advise you on what type or types of cases you may be able to bring.
