Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York
Other driver at fault and Now can't be found
I was a passenger in an automoblie accident. Nothing was broken but I sustained injury to my left knee and right arm. After talking to insurer of vehicle I was in , I was requested to wait before consulting an attorney and see what the other driver's insurer offered. It has been 2 weeks and other insurer has made no contact with me at all. Upon investigating done by myself, I discovered that the other party changed her phone number. After recieving police report found out that other parties insurance code does not exist. My question is should I wait longer or would now be a good time to seek legal advise against the advise of my friend's insurance agent? I have yet to recieve any compensation for time lost at work or my injuries.

Now is the time to see an attorney. You need to notify your own carrier for no fault coverage and you need to notify them in case there is either underinsurance or no insurance coverage. Attorneys will only help you get more money or at least tell you what your rights are and whether or not you have a "serious injury" under NY no fault law.
Re: Other driver at fault and Now can't be found
Your no fault insurance should be paying
your medical and lost wages without
consideration of the other driver
If you have not already contacted your carrier
do so immediately
You should also hire an attorney immediately
A DMV check will secure the necessary info

You should consult with an attorney to determine your legal rights. No fault medical coverage will be available to you either through the host vehicle, or your household insurance. No fault applications must be filed within 90 days of the accident in order to be covered.

Good Day
The fact that nothing was broken does not mean that you were not injured.
The other driver, if the accident occurred in NY, can be served with papers if necessary.
The other insurance company, if "999" is not always "not listed" it may be assigned risk not yet identified.
Do not fret...and ALWAYS seeks legal advice. It is usually free and usually stops you from making mistakes.
