Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York

Driving Instruction

Back in 2000 I was taking driving lessons. While on a lesson with my instructor, I became involved in a minor accident. Unable to stop in time, I rear-ended another car. The driver is suing both me and the driving school. The insurance company for the driving school is retaining an attorney to represent us. I'm supposed to give a deposition in a month. The attorney representing me is supposed to meet with me beforehand.

1. Is there anything else I should do?

2. Should I hire my own attorney, in addition to the one appointed by the insurance company/

Unless it was a major accident with liability likely to exceed your insurance coverage it is probably unnecessary for you to hire a private attorney.
