Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York

My ex-girlfriend has ruined my life.

I am in the middle of a criminal case in NJ filed by my ex-lover. She is accusing me of extortion and terroristic threats and she has an order of protection against me to cover up an adulterous relationship and possibly an illegitimate child from her husband. She also filed a harrasment case against me in NY which was dismissed without going to trial. I have a lawyer in NJ and I am awaiting court proceedings.

Recently, my ex-lover started calling my jobsite and made slanderous charges against me that may have caused me to lose my job. She called my office and accused me of rape, drug abuse and other vicious lies. When staff at my office refused to confirm if i worked at the facility she called our Main office and spoke to our President and made the same slanderous and very humilliating accusations. I was informed of her call by my supervisor who advised me to see a lawyer. Since I only started at this agency, my boss terminated my employment on the basis of my probationary status. I suspect her calls may have something to do with it but it is the employers's prerogative during one's probationary period. I am not after any monetary gain but I need to know what I can do to stop her from destroying my life.

If what she said is untrue, and the things said resulted in you losing your job, then you have a strong defamation claim against her. If she has some means (money) then you could get a judgment against her. This would not be a simple matter, and I would need much more information in order to properly advise you. It sounds like she is doing a pretty good job of it. Ever see "Fatal Attraction"?

You need to get a restraining order against her, although it may be closing the barn door after the fact.
