Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York

I am trying to find an attorney on contingency for a negligence claim. I was incarcerated on march 5, 2009. Upon entering the DOC I had already been diagnosed with Post traumatic Stress, Major depressive, and generalized anxiety disorder. I had been taking a regimen of medication for a long period of time prior and up to my incarceration that included among other medications Klonipin and Lexapro which both are know to cause sever withdrawl, seizures, and in extreme cases death when abruptly discontinued.

I was given my proper medication in the county jail but upon entering Downstate C.F. all of my medication was stopped. I suffered severe withdrawls that were noticed by much of the staff who continued sending me to the doctor who refused to give me any of my medication. After five days I suffered from a seizure which is documented. I was brought to the infirmary with a pulse of 156. They gave me a paper bag to breath in and after fifteen minutes sent me back to the psychiatrist who again denied me of my medication and I was sent back to my cell.

Another M.D. who saw me noticed my trembling and other withdrawl symptoms. He set up an appointment for me to see a neurologist. I was transferred to Bare Hill C.F. and saw this neurologist in three months. I was still suffering symptoms and as a neurologist he did all he could do which was to prescribe me back the klonipin.

I exauhsted all of my internal remedies in a timely manner and also filed a notice of intent with the attorney general. I was released in November of 2010 and am being put back on all of my medications. I have done a lot of research, have found precedent almost identical to my situation and feel I have a very strong case. I don't feel that I know the law well enough to proceed on my wn with the lawsuit and need to find an attorney that would be willing to take this case on contingency. I know that things must be filed properly and on time and need to find a lawyer as soon as possible to help me.

Where should I begin to look for an attorney that would be willing to take this case? I know that some do not like to go against the state or DOC's. I was thinking that it might be better for me to look for an attorney located outside of NY but who is also licensed to practice law there. Can anyone please point me in the right direction or offer me any suggestions that you might have?
