Go to a law library and ask for a binder of the New York Jury Verdict Reporters. Each issue is about forty pages. In the back of each issue is an index where you can search for cases by injuries (look under facial lacerations and broken vertebrae) and by county (very important!). Look through at least six months of back issues and try to find at least 5-6 similar cases. There are also services that will find similar injury settlements and verdicts and send them to you. Just be aware that people unrepresented by attorneys rarely get anything close to the figures you'll be seeing. Best of Luck! Try the New York Jury Verdict Reporter. Then see you attorney. These verdicts may have been reversed/modified on appeal. The are case and fact specific.
