Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York
How to interview a lawyer
My son was injured we need to hire a lawyer, but how do you know what lawyer to choose. As with everyone we would like to have the best representation. What questions do I ask how do I find out his success rate. If you could please help me I would appreciate it.
Thank you

Re: How to interview a lawyer
I received your post on 9-12-2000.
My practice concentrates on personal injury, and in all my years, the best answer to your question would be that you must feel comfortable with that person.
A 'track record' is never a good indicator of anything...because a person with an excellent track record may be an excellent attorney with easy cases while a poor track record may mean an excellent attorney who tries cases that are not readily winnable, but tries them anyway.
Additionally, if your son is under 21 years, he is considered a minor, and the action must also name a parent as guardian in the lawsuit. Such a lawsuit, in the event of a settlement, must have it approved by the Court as the Court also acts in a 'guardian-type' capacity.
Please contact me in the event that you wish to discuss this matter.
Good Luck to you and to your son.

Re: How to interview a lawyer
You should try to get a recommendation from a friend or relative. Another good idea is to seek a referral from an attorney you use for other matters. For a referral to an excellent personal injury attorney, you may contact me at 212-208-2470. Best of luck.
Re: How to interview a lawyer
I tell my clients to go with someone they feel comfortable with. I steer people away from the volume practices many personal injury firms are. If I can be of further help, let me know.
