Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York

I have a lawsuit already for 3 years. I got married a year after i started the lawsuit. Is it true that if i get the money from the lawsuit it will be split 50/50 between me and my husband?

In New York, if your lawsuit was commenced prior to your marriage and there is no loss of consortium claim on behalf of your husband, the proceeds of any award or settlement will be entirely for your benefit. Whether the proceeds would later become part of the marital property should be addressed to a family or divorce lawyer.
