Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York
I was in Manhattan NY and I was taking my daughter to an acting addition and upon parking my vehicle was stuck by a passing truck who tried to squeeze by and miscalculated the space in between myself and a vehicle that was parked on the opposite side of the street. What are the laws regarding this type of accident.

If the facts are as you describe them, the driver was negligent and (his insurance company) is liable for any damages/injuries you suffered.
If you were injured, you should speak with an attorney immediately. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Good luck!
You don't say whether you suffered physical injury. If so, that is one type of claim. If there was damage to your vehicle, that is another. Also, was this accident police reported? Speak with a lawyer as soon as possible. Best, M.E. Zuller
You need to report the accident to your insurance company asap. Hopefully, you got a police report. Your insurance company will pay to repair your car if you have collission insurance and then seek to get the money back from the insurance company for the truck. If you were injured, you need to file a no-fault claim with your insurance carrier within 30 days of the accident. No-fault will cover your medicals and lost wages. You can sue for pain and sufering if you have a "serious injury" as that term is defined in the Insurance Law. I am a former federal and State prosecutor and now han cases such as yours so please feel free to check out my web site and contact me.
