Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York

Medicare Lien

We recently settled a lawsuit and now we are awaiting a medicare lien on the settlement. My lawyer states that there is no way to tell how long it will take for medicare to respond with an amount. He also indicated that he has waited over 2 years on another case. My question.. isn't there any kind of statute that would force medicare to respond in a timely manner?

Re: Medicare Lien

Your lawyer is full of it. First of all, there's no reason he had to wait until the case was settled to request the amount from Medicare. Second, there are several things he can do to avoid waiting TWO YEARS. If he had to wait that long to get HIS money, you know he'd be calling every day. You can contact me via email if you need further assistance.
