our minor son has a guardian account with funds from a lawsuit..can parents access any of the funds in case of an emergency

Emergency for child, maybe.
Emergency for parents, no.

An application must be made to the court for invasion of a child's funds. If the reason doesn't involve health care or something equally serious, the request is likely to be denied. Best, MEZ
