Are parents entitled to my money?

I was involved in a car accident about two years ago. I am 20 years old and under my parents insurance. We recently received a settlement. One check is in my fathers name for the damages to the car and the other is in my name for my injuries. My parents say since i am under their insurance they are entitled to my share. Is this true? The check is in my name, will they be able to cash this check?

I received your post today...you check for your pain and suffering..goes to you..open an account and deposit it. It is also not taxable.
