Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York

Is my previous lawyer allowed by law to give out my personal contact information, such as my phone number, out to other people including his family members? For example would he be allowed to give out my cell # to a member of his family, who has since, contacted me numerous times? I never gave him any permission to give out any of my information, and I am very upset by these phone calls. I would really appreciate the feedback and direction. Thank you.
