Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York

Can I re-open this case???

I am now 18 and have received money for a case I had when I was about 10. This is what happened: While playing at the part, on the monkey bars, one of the bars became loose which caused me to fall and the bone from one of my arms poped out. I was rushed to the hospital and had surgery. I now have a scar of about 3 inches. I only received 15K (this includes the interest gained over the years). My lawyers settled for this amount, which I feel is very unfair. I am now 18 and am wondering if this case can be re-opened. Thanks for your help.

Re: Can I re-open this case???

The case is over. But rest assured, as an infant, the Court, through a judge, had to approve the settlement to be certain that it was in your best interest.

Good Luck

Re: Can I re-open this case???

generally, the 'settlement' can be a 'contract'. and as a new-adult you have the legal right to reject contracts made during your minority. i need some more information to give a better answer. who 'signed' the settlement? a parent or a guardian? i usually give definite answers, but the answer to this question cannot be given in this space. my best answer is: sometimes the case can be re-opened, but it would require strong surrounding circumstances. you are welcome to call me for a consultation at no charge at 42 west 44th street,ny,ny. please call for an appointment. 646-591-5786
