Restitution for personal injury

Can someone whos only income is SSI be sued for medical bills and bodily injury if convicted of aggravated assault?

Sure they can. Why not? The only issue is whether their SSI can be taken if there is a judgment against them, and that answer is no. But the answer is Yes, they can be sued. The theory is this, the defendant may have hidden assets, may inherit $, may find $, may get off SSI.... a judgment is good for 10 yrs in NY, and can be renewed for another 10.

Yes you can be sued. That is the positive and the negative of american jurisprudence. Anyone can be sued for anything but you have to prove it in a court of law. And the party filing the lawsuit needs to make sure they are not filing a frivolous lawsuit, otherwise they may get sanctioned.
