It means that Eight Hundred Thousand Dollars was the amount of the filers legal fee. It further means the settlement was over 2.4 Million Dollars. You should have received 1.6 Million Dollars. Note that repayment of money that was laid out by your attorney is not considered compensation to the lawyer. His compensation should have been figured on the amount left after the repayment of costs were deducted.
