Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York

slander work related

A doctor loudly and deliberately slandered me at work. She has also threatened libel. The hospital told me indirectly that they are aware of the doctor's statements, but that since "She's crazy" they're just ignoring the whole thing. I, therefore, am not in any trouble with the hospital (so they claim). The doctor is a private attending, not a hospital employee. I have reason to believe that this is a pattern of conduct. What are my rights and what can I do?

Slander at work

You should certainly keep a detailed record of what is said and when it is said and the date it is said. It would be necessary to know the details of these "conversations" to adequately reply to your question. However, generally libel suits are expensive and not generally productive. Keep complete records in case action is necessary later. If you belong to a union you should also let it know what is happening.
