i fell down the stairs of a rented house and broke my wrist in 5 places. my landlord has home owners ins. can i sue?

Generally speaking, probably yes. It might depend on the wording of the lease, if there is one. Also, it would be important to know what caused you to fall, a structural defect of some sort, or something more in the nature of a banana peel? Best, M. E. Zuller

Yes. Of course, whether or not have you have a good case depends on what caused you to fall. For example, was there something wrong with the steps or the handrail? If so, you should get photos before it gets fixed. If you fell because you tripped on your own foot, you would likely not have a case.
