Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York
hi-
for the third time in a period of less than 12 months, my vehicle was damaged in the employees-only parking lot of a small office building from which I rent space.
Each was a 'hit and run'.
Owners and managaement were informed immediately each time. My last vehicle had to be 'totalled'-the body damage so extensive it exceeded the cars value.
The building owners refuse to take responsibility or even look into the discovery of the culprits who rent in the building, They also refuse to install surviellance cameras as I 'suggested'.
What can I do ??

You should obtain comprehensive and collision damage on your vehicle inclusive of hit and run deeds.
You don't say whether you had collision coverage, or whether these property damage losses were covered or absorbed by someone other than you. If you don't have collision, contact your broker now and have it made a part of your policy. The property owners have no legal duty to install cameras, or investigate matters of property damage to vehicles parking on the lot. If the arrangement is, presumably, to park at your own risk, a lawsuit against the property owner for your cars' damage would likely not succeed, as the negligence involved was on the part of someone else. Wish you had more options. Best, M. E. Zuller
