Abandoned Personal Property

My husband and I assumed a mortgage on my sister-in-law's home earlier this year. Her ex has been notified by us via telephone numerous times to come and collect the rest of his personal property and he still has not done so. How long does he have to get this stuff before it is considered abandoned property and we can dispose of it? We have been in the house since May 24, 2001.

You should give him written notice via certified mail.
