Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

Add mother's name to deed

My mother's house is in my name. There is not a mortgage on the house, only an equity loan for $16,000. Can I add my mother's name to the deed without paying off the loan? My name will remain on the deed and the equity loan is in my name.

Re: Add mother's name to deed

Yes, you may add your mother's name to the deed. The mortgage for the equity loan would have priority over your mother's interest in the property.
