Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

Who's apartment is it ?

I have an aunt that is currently on section 8 and she suffers from a severe mental conditon . Recently , her landlord offered her $2000 to move out , and she accepted it , she also signed a paper that stated that she gave up the rights to her apartment .(while still on the lease ) She does not have anywhere to go and that landlord continues every month to recieve checks from section 8 for her residing .(which she is no longer doing and her mail still goes there) He now has another tenant residing in that apartment . Who does this apartment legally belong to ?

Re: Who's apartment is it ?

My strong urging if the landlord is indeed

receiving government funds for a rental he

is not entitled to is to contact immediately the

local office of the New York State Attorney

General. They are geared for these

abuses and overreachings and are publicly

funded so there is no cost to you.
