Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

Attn: Sylvia Schapiro

There are all these documents that one needs to read before buying a coop/condo unit but how does one get these documents, ie, the budget, the bylaws, house rules, the original plan of incorporation, etc, all the documents that you spell out?

Are these documents publicly available or does one just ask the coop board for them? And shouldn't one do this before making a bid on the apartment?

Re: Attn: Sylvia Schapiro

Normally you would receive the bylaws, house rules and budget before you sign the contract. You would receive a copy from the seller, seller's attorney or seller's broker.
