Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York
Back in June I sold my house. I had an attorney and so did the buyer. We closed on the property etc....I am now receiving foreclosure notices from a local attorney. My attorney paid the only lien holder on the title search. Now the people who rent that house got my contact info from the buyer & are contacting me that THEY were served papers in MY name regarding the foreclosure. I have no idea what to do. The attorney who handled my closing advised I have nothing to worry about. Then when I showed him the letter I received, he advised I find a litigation attorney....
What should I be doing to protect myself?

To protect yourself you should find a lawyer.
There seems to be more to this story. It is hard to give more advise without review of the papers. Normally at a closing the title company receives money used to pay all judgments and liens against the realty. If money was diverted by the title company or the title company failed to pay the lien, you may have a claim against the company.
