Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

BackYard Trees

I live in Brooklyn, New York: The trunk of a tree in my backyard sits on both my and my neighbors' property line-Can my neighbor make me chop it down? And what is the law if one of us wants to keep the tree, while the other doesn't?

Re: BackYard Trees

You each have the right to chop away the part on your property.
