Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

Belongings left behind

A family member put a mobile home on my land. There were costs incurred in setting things up that were paid by him.ex, site prep, well and septic. No rents or agreements were made.He was there about 2 years. He left over a year ago. I havent touched a thing. He sent a letter a couple months later saying he wasnt coming back to live but would be back in the spring for his stuff including the trailer. He never contacted me again. The stuff is still there. I sent him a letter stating that I wanted the place cleaned up and his stuff removed. Meanwhile, I am paying property taxes on his improvements and the trailer that is now falling apart. I sent the letter via certified mail to his PO box. It was never claimed. Where do I go from here. It needs to be gone by March or I cant get the taxes reduced. I stated in the letter that in the event that it isnt removed, and I set a date, I also stated that I wanted 100.00 per month after that date. Not for the money but to try to light a fire under him as he seems to leave a path of '' undone '' behind. Have I forgotten anything? Now that the letter went unclaimed, what else should I do to protect myself and clean up the mess? Thanks in advance

Re: Belongings left behind

Seems like you may need to retain a lawyer and go into court for an order for removal. You may have to advertise the suit in a local paper where the relative lives so the court can find jurisdiction to order the removal of the property. Best is get a local attorney familiar with real estate to assist you.
