When billing for services on an hourly basis in a action involving multiple defendant/plaintiffs, can an attorney bill each party individually for the same services?
Example: An attorney reviews a document for 4 hours in a case in which he represent 4 persons collectively; can he bill each for 4 hours or each for l hour.

The attorney should issue a statement that reflects the retainer agreement. However, should there be no retainer agreement, the attorney should issue one invoice for 4 hours, against all clients, and allow the clients to decide amongst themselves how to pay for the legal services.
