Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

I was born and raised in a 2 family brownstone in brooklyn, ny. the house is paid for. both parents have died, leaving no will. i have been paying all utilities with money orders with my name. how can i go about getting the house put in my name???

If you were the sole heir of your parents, and there was no will, you can probably deed the property to yourself.

Another way would be to apply to the Surrogate's Court to be named as Administrator of your parent's estate, and, once you receive Letters of Administration from the Court, deed the property to yourself with an Administrator's deed.
