Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

Breaking a lease

I would like to move from the apt I am in at the moment. My lease is until April 03. I may be relocating from my job, plus I have had continuous bug problems and just want out. The lnadlord explained that no matter what I have to pay the rent until they either rent it out or until my lease is up, even if I am not there. Is there a way to legally get out of this? Plus I have 2 month security on this place. Please help.

Re: Breaking a lease

The reasons you give would not permit you to break your lease. While you would still be responsible for rent the landlord would be under an obligation to make reasonable efforts to rerent your apartment.
