Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

camping on school property

My teammates and I are planning a campout on our athletic field at school. We have checked the student handbook and nothing is mentioned. We do not plan to deface the property in anyway, just camp out. Is this legal or will we get in trouble? Thanks for your help.
