i have a car that the finance company has stopped collecting on for four years, they have left the car sitting in my driveway and have not asked for a payment how long do they have a right to put a lean on the car

They should already have a lien; check your title. If there is no lien on the title then the finance company has no rights unless the car was manufactured a long time ago (prior to 1972).

They can sue you for the unpaid balance for up to six years after an installment last became due.
