check is in the mail
private mortage check goes out of state on the 1st, does not arrive timely enough. now, I am being asked to overnight it. what is the grace period between how long it takes from the 1st until they recieve it to be considered late? thanks in advance.

The normal grace period is five days, but it depends upon the wording of the lease. Standard terminology is rent is due on the first of the month, if received five days after the first a late penalty of $-- will be charged.
