Commercial vs Store Lease
My company is looking into renting space in NYC. We received from the landlord a standard store lease instead of commercial office space lease. The space we�re occupying was once a store but we would be using it as a sales office (and we�re not selling goods per se).
Are there separate property laws/rules relating to stores versus commercial office space? If we sign this type of form lease, I want to make sure that we�re not subject to any special rules.

Retail (store) and office leases are quite different and it would be a bad decision to sign a retail lease if you are planning to use the space for an office. Feel free to call my office if you need legal representation -- none of the leases are drafted to protect the lessees, but in New York a commercial tenant can really get hurt.
