COOP shareholder intercom system

I am a shareholder and a new intercom system is being installed in the building. I have been informed that I must have a telephone for the system to work. I do not have a telephone nor do I wish to have the extra monthly expense and the management has informed me that I will not have an intercom to allow guest to enter my home unless I get one. What can I do about this? If I get a cell phone I will then be charged for incoming calls every time someone buzzes me to enter the building. I spoke to management and to the ''co-owner'' and they both said I had to get a phone line.

You can probably get "basic" "no frills" land line phone service for $35.00/mo; or less.

If you are a senior, you can probably get a phone line for even less.

Negotiate with a telephone company, for the price. But, expect to install what the coop requires, in order for your guests and delivery persons, to be admitted to your building
