Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

I co-signed a mortgage and now i want to get off this mortgage. I am not nor was i married to the other borrower infact there are 3 other borrowers on the loan. Payments have been late 6 times within the past year and it is messing up my credit and chances for other apartments i would like to rent. I do not pay anything on this mortgage nor do i live on the property. What are all of my REAL options? Thanks. Denise

You would have to request the bank to remove you from the mortgage. If the bank refuses, you would have to refinance to pay off the mortgage.
