can i find out who's name is on a deed of a house?

The owner of property is public information that can easily be obtained by going to the County Clerk's Office of the county where the property is located. When you arrive there should be an information desk and just ask for assistance.

Deeds are filed and recorded - you can go to a record abstract company and get either:
last owner search - which basically tells you who's name is on the last deed filed
a copy of the deed
a certified copy of the deed
Obviously, price depends on the option that you choose - however, a last owner search is all you really need if you want to find out who's name is on the deed and this is relatively inexpensive.
