Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

Discontinued Case

My mother was brought to court by the City of New York

who elected to terminate her tenancy because

they claimed she did not live there and had allowed

others to live there. She took over the apt from a deceased aunt who she lived with and has been paying rent and bills there after aunt died for past 14 years. Today the case was discontinued. We need to understand what discontinued means for her-- does she have to move or can she continue living there? The building she is in is under a till program and belongs to the tenants association. Was this to her advantage or theirs. The other choice would be to go to trial. We need to know if she should take it to trial. She has proof that she lives there and was in and out of hosipitals and staying with me off and on.
