Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

Discovered buried wastes on recently purchased property

I recently purchased a home w/ some surrounding land. I began digging in the yard and came across debris (metal scraps, broken bottles, etc) that was buried by the previous owner. Nothing was disclosed before the closing. Whats rights do I have?

Re: Discovered buried wastes on recently purchased property

I had a client who had the same problem. He bought a piece of land in the summer, and when he was able to go back into the back acres he found tires and several broken down cars. He had to hire a tow truck service to tow the cars and the tires out.

He took the prior owners to small claims court and received a money judgment against the prior owners for the removal fees.

I would suggest that you file in small claims court.
