Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

Discrepancy between lease term

On my apartment lease it states its a 6 month term lease, however below it there is stated the actual month dates which are really seven full months. Obviously a misprint, but no one caught on at time of signing. But because the lease states both, i'm told it has to be the actual dates, not the ''6 month term''. Is this correct?

It depends who wrote lease.

The person who prepared the lease is responsible for the error. Therefor in NY the person who did not prepare the lease interprets it to their best advantage. Ambiguities are resolved against the drafter (writer) of the contract.

For example: If you are the landlord and prepared the lease then it is upto the tenant to decide if 6 or 7 months was actually meant.
