Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

Dispute with another tenant

My husband and I just moved to a coop apt. The guy downstairs is the board president. He harrasses us constantly about any sound and reports to the bldg manager. We are asked to attend a board meeting to try to solve the problem. I am not confident that all board members will be 100% fair. and we are thinking of possible legal action against this guy. Can i bring a recorder to the meeting? Do i need to let them know that i am recording? Is there anything else i should prepare if i do want to bring a lawsuit? Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Dispute with another tenant

you should attend the meeting and it is legal for you to record. Do you meet the requirement that many coops have of 80% of your floor area carpeted. That will be an issue. you can call me at 212 683 8677 to discuss
