Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York
I dropped my phone at a nightclub and could not find it. The person who found the phone contacted me and told me that I could have the phone back if I could unlock it. He was going away for a week, so I asked him if he could give it to someone that I could either pick it up from or to someone that could deliver the phone to me. He gave the phone to his cousin, who has repeatedly tried to charge me $150 for the phone. Neither the original finder nor myself can convince the cousin to return the phone for free, even though all parties acknowledge that the phone belongs to me. What can I do?

Notify the police. The phone can be considered stolen property.
