early lease termination-house already rerented
I had a 1 year lease, scheduled to end October 30, 2000. When I mailed august rent I advised landlord, I would not be renewing lease. meanwhile I had need to move by October 1, 2000. I referred a friend of mine who was looking for a home to my landlord . I have moved and my landlord has rented the house to my friend, she has signed a lease effective October 1, 2000. The landlord is keeping my security deposit to cover October rent due to my movong 1 month early. Can he charge rent from me as well as another tenent for the same month?

What the landlord is doing is illegal. You cured his damages. You should take him to landloard court. I bet if you just threaten him, you will see your money.
