Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York
Can I evict someone without paying a Lawyer
I went to our town court to start a legal eviction and I was told by the Judge that I needed to hire a lawyer who would have the forms I needed to start the action. I do not have the money to hire a lawyer and I need to get this tenant out. Isn't there a place to get the forms and do the eviction without hiring a lawyer?

Re: Can I evict someone without paying a Lawyer
The forms that you need can be purchased from Blumberg Law forms in NYC or from a local legal stationery store and are- 3 Day or 30 day notice to tenant, Notice of Petition and Petition which must be served on the Tenant and then filed with the Court with an affidavit of service. The procedure is quite complicated and as you can recover attorney's fees expended to evict the tenant it would pay you in the long run to hire an attorney, rather than possibly losing on a technicality.
