Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York
eviction in New York City
My grandparents have lived in an apartment in New York CIty for 40 years. They are aged 85 and 90. The building has been sold. They were told they would have to move out by August, utilities would be turned off. Do they have any legal rights? Entitled to any monetary compensation? It will be virtually impossible for them to find new affordable housing in this very competitive, expensive NYC market.

Your grandparents surely have legal rights which may protect them from eviction. Have them (or you should for them) consult with an attorney.
